How to connect surround sound to sharp tv?
September 10th, 2012 by admin Leave a reply »I just bought a Sharp 42″ LCD HDTV and am trying to hook up surround sound. I bought an RCA surround sound system that came with a DVD player. I am tech stupid. I’ve been thru the owners manual on the dvd player and tv and cannot get the tv to play through the surround sound. It works with a dvd but not the tv. What do you recommend I try?

digital optical cable which plugs into your Home Theatre and into the tv
hope i help
If you have a DVR receiver then hook it directly to the sound system and hook the system to the TV. bu if you have a regular tv cable then i recommend you keep the sound through the tv coz the sound is mono and it would be very noisy playing it through the system.
Connect optical cable or composite cables ( red & white ) from cable box or TV to sound system for audio.
One way is connecting an optical cable from the tv and connect the other end to the rca optical input in the back. Second is connecting an optical cable from the cable box or disc network and to your rca home theater. Some home theater in a box are not flexible for adding other equipment to them. Check and see if there is an optical input in your system, if it has then you can have the sound go through your system. Also most tv program are only in stereo, only those tv programs that have the Dolby Digital logo will have surround sound. Hope this will help you out.
Optic out from TV to the surround sound system.
